If you need quick, high-level statistics about your Infobright database, a new user-contributed software download may suit your need.  Thanks to the intern team at the University of Illinois, users can simply drag-and-drop a few files into their web server directory.  The user can then navigate to the main page and quickly pull information regarding their database and their tables.  For example, here's the data which can be extracted:

  1. List of all Accessible Databases (by that user)
  2. Database Summaries
    • Estimated Raw Data Size for the entire Database
    • Overall database compression
    • Table Names
    • Engines Used
    • Number of Rows
    • Collation
    • Compression Ratios per Table
    • Estimated Raw Size per Table
  3. Tables
    • DDL
    • Collation Type
    • Privileges
    • Estimated raw data size per column
    • Compressed data size per column
    • Compression Ratio

Some Things You Likely Don’t Know About Infobright and Other Random Thoughts

• Some of the world’s largest telecom carriers are using Infobright for network analytics for customer assurance, network troubleshooting and performance management.
• 80 billion rows of data was loaded per hour by a customer using our upcoming Distributed Load Processor (stay tuned..)
• About 50% of Infobright customers are online businesses, including online and mobile advertising networks, online marketing companies, social networks, online retailers and a wide variety of other online companies.
ISV /OEMs are an increasingly large part of our business, primarily in telecom, enterprise network management, mobile and SIEM (security). Infobright enhances their solution by enabling their applications to capture, store and analyze more data, do it faster, at lower cost and without the administration other databases require.
Capital market companies such as hedge funds and investment banks are using Infobright for analyzing stock price and trade data and end-of-day position data. Unfortunately from a marketing perspective, none of them will talk about it publicly for competitive reasons. They are very secretive.
• The Infobright open source community now has over 32,000 members!

The conclusion? The Infobright database is now being used for incredibly demanding applications, and more and more businesses are relying on it for revenue-generating purposes. This makes us even more cognizant of our responsibility to deliver a quality product with ever-increasing functionality and performance. Like all software companies, we have our issues from time to time but we continue to work hard every day to improve in all aspects of the business.
