We are very pleased to announce Release 4.0 for both the Enterprise Edition and Community Edition products. Release 4.0 is all about extending the capabilities of the software to automatically optimize the database for analyzing large volumes of machine-generated data - such as weblogs, telecom network data and call data, financial stock trade data, computer logs and similar types of data. Our new DomainExpert technology is designed specifically to speed up queries that use this type of data, by using information about the patterns that naturally exist in machine-generated data to change how the database engine processes queries. Jeff Kibler, Infobright's community manager, has created a video that explains the new features and  a bit about how it does it. You can watch it here.

Infobright's Knowledge Grid architecture uses information about the data to deliver very fast query response. So, it makes intuitive sense that the more information the Knowledge Grid has, the faster the queries. With DomainExpert, we start to add semantic intelligence about the data. What is really interesting is that you can easily add your own domain knowledge into the database by identifying the patterns in your data as a combination of literals, numerics and strings. In 4.0, we include these for web data types such as IP addresses, URLs and email addresses, but you can add your own and the database will use that information to automatically optimize for your particular use case.

Our new Rough Query feature is one we are especially excited about. It can speed up the process of "investigative analytics" or data mining by a factor of 20 or more. Read our CEO's blog on this for more info, or again, watch the video. (What are you waiting for, watch it now grin

For Enterprise Edition subscribers, we announced an add-on product called the Distributed Load Processor that offloads the process of loading and compressing data, and building the Knowledge Grid information to remote servers, so you can scale load speed linearly by adding additional processing capacity. It also includes a Hadoop connector to make it easy to extract data from HDFS and load it at high speeds into IEE.

The press release has more details, and you can read that here. Did I mention you might want to watch the video?

We are also hosting two webinars on the new capabilities of 4.0 on June 22. You can register for the session at 9:30 am ET / 15:30 CET here.
You can register for the session later that day at 2 pm ET / 11 am PT here.

The software wil be available for download soon, we are hoping to release it at the end of June. Stay tuned - we will let you know when it is ready.

Let us know if you have any questions or comments. We love to hear from you.

Regards,

Susan Davis, VP Marketing and Product Management

Thanks for convincing me to view the video and thanks to Jeff, and any associates, for a clear, concise, hopefully persuasive explanation of the new, significant capabilities of Infobright.
Thanks,
Alan
