Database benchmarking usually revolves around query times, and that’s very important. At Infobright we pride ourselves in being able to deliver very fast response times to queries involving terabytes of data. However it is easy to overlook the importance of load speed when comparing 2 DBMS products. But in a world that is witnessing an explosion of data, being able to get that data into the DBMS server quickly is critical if you want to do ad-hoc analytics on that data in near real-time and derive intelligent actionable insights leading to profitable business decisions. Insights are time-critical.
Knowing how your network is behaving in real-time leads to better operational decisions to minimize downtime and faster turnaround in cases of crisis. There are operational, business and reputational costs to be paid when such insights are not available. Unfortunately, this is not an uncommon occurrence. This is what brings home the importance of first having the right data in the right place at the right time.
So many customers I have spoken with talk about how important our load speeds are and how without our fast loader, they would not be able to derive mission-critical insights
as quickly as they do. You can only fire the queries once all the data you want is in the database where you want it. The IB loader achieves that performance and reduces the cycle time from raw data to analytic insights.
Next week you will read about a new loading option for Infobright Enterprise Edition with load speeds of TBs per hour..Stay tuned!
