Steve Hofstetter – were you friends with him? At one point, Steve had over 200,000 friends on Facebook (until Facebook capped the limit to 5,000!). At one point, he was nearly two degrees of separation from most of the college students in the world. While I don’t forecast this type of exponential growth of our ‘friends’ on Infobright.org, I hope to drive our up our user base for one sole purpose: increasing dialog between our community members.
While Infobright seamlessly fits with the need for speed on ever-growing data sizes, the community is the pulse and strength of the software. Our community members contribute code, respond to forums, and provide enhancement requests/bug tickets. By increasing our community size, we expand our knowledge base and improve the quality of the software.
When we grow our community, Infobright must also invest in user advocacy and intra-community discussion. How else can Infobright solve your BI and analytic needs? How can the community members talk back-and-forth? What if one wants to talk with an Infobright engineer? Over the next few months, we will be investing in these communication methods.
In the meantime, my door is always open. Feel free to e-mail me ((JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)), call me on skype (jeff.at.infobright), or post to our forum. Use other social media? Follow the community on twitter, facebook, or YouTube.
Cheers,
Jeff
