Is there some good reference for those theory?

Hello,

anybody knows what kind of theory is in behind for those article below?

Theoretically, an Infobright table can go up to 147 trillion rows, but practically, 50 billion is the limit today – a count which greatly depends on the data row size and datatypes used (i.e. the row limit could go higher depending on the row size).

http://www.nileshpawar.com/mysqlexpert/2011/06/data-warehousing-with-mysql-and-infobright/

any help will be great and welcome.

Best regards,

Hi,
I’ve downloaded ICE-Talend VM. I’ve connected to Ice as instructed using SQLYOG. I want to know whether i can copy tables from MSSQL server to Infobright Using this client? If so which client would be more user friendly to work on?

Using data content semantics in databases

Hi,

The trigger to begin this topic is our paper published at CIKM 2010. I can’t attach the paper itself (the publishers wouldn’t probably like it) but I paste the abstract. You can also find the related presentation attached to one of my blogs.

So, here is the paper:

===================

TITLE: Injecting Domain Knowledge into a Granular Database Engine - A Position Paper

AUTHORS: Dominik Slezak & Graham Toppin

ABSTRACT: We discuss how to use techniques from such fields as text processing and knowledge management to better handle text attributes in the Infobright’s RDBMS engine. Our approach leads to a rich interface for domain experts who wish to share their knowledge about data content and, on the other hand, it remains unnoticeable to data users. It enables to improve data storage, data access, and data compression, with no changes required at the database schema level.

===================

There is more to come…

Best greetings,

Hello,

Welcome to SIGMOD 2009 forum!

As introduced in the blog (http://www.infobright.org/Blog/Entry/good_morning_sigmod/), I’ll use this thread for more real-time updates.

Let me start with listing some sessions that we’ll probably attend:

—Industry 1, Data Warehouses (http://www.sigmod09.org/program_sigmod.shtml#ind1)

—Industry 4, Optimization (http://www.sigmod09.org/program_sigmod.shtml#ind4)

—Invited, Systems Research (http://www.sigmod09.org/program_sigmod.shtml#invited)

—Industry 5, Transactions (http://www.sigmod09.org/program_sigmod.shtml#ind5)

Data Mining in Warehousing

I tried to summarize possible ways of thinking about data mining in the context of data warehousing:

http://www.infobright.org/Open-Source/Blog/Academic

It’s certainly just a starting point for discussion. My observations are rough rather than exact.

I’ll be grateful for the comments on this topic… On my side, I’ll follow up with some examples soon…

Best greetings,

Various Types of Inexact Data

I open this thread to discuss various cases of data with values not necessarily crisply defined.

This is the topic getting more and more popular in theory and applications (see e.g. ICDE 2009 thread).

Among various examples of inexact data, let me refer to non-deterministic information systems (see academic projects thread, #1 and #2), as well as to Infobright’s Knowledge Grid as the source of rough data (see rough data contest thread as well as relevant posts on our academic blog).

Certainly, all those sources of inexact data require specific solutions with respect to specific applications. Nevertheless, let’s try to discuss them within the same thread. I believe that in this way we’ll be able to address some common high-level aspects, with no harm for more detailed discussions about particular cases.

Best greetings,

Dominik

PS: H.S. suggested starting posts with subtopics, e.g.: “Subtopic: Non-deterministic information” or “Subtopic: Interval information” to better navigate through this thread. I guess it may work out well. I’ll try to remember about it while posting.

Hello,

Isn’t it just a matter of time when database users will have to accept approximate queries?

I open this thread in relation to the recent blog:

http://www.infobright.org/Blog/Entry/approximate_querying/

What are rough sets?

Can somebody explain in one or two sentences?
One aspect is extension of set theory, where an element (1) can belong to a set, (2) can belong to the complement of a set, (3) can belong to the boundary of set, so we can not precisely say whether it belongs or not to the set.
