Hi,
I’m currently planning Infobright deployment for an Enterprise Data Warehouse. How can I know my hardware requirements ? I’ve read the recommended requirements on the wiki but these are rather general. Is there any place where I could find more precise informations.

Thanks,

You are correct, the recommended Platform Requirements on the wiki are general. From a high-level, for optimal performance we tend to recommend a core per concurrent running query (actual running queries, not concurrent logged in users) and approx 2GB of RAM per core.

The questions beyond that become how large your database is, types of data being used, and the profile of your analytics (how resource heavy are your queries)? That makes it difficult to help estimate what you might need. However, if you provide DDL and sample queries, we can certainly help provide guidance.

Kind regards,
Andrew

Thanks.
We expect something like 2GB of new data per hour. The overall size will depend of what Infobright and the chosen hardware can handle. We will be some aggregation of data for older data.

The user of the data warehouse will be a telco. The type of data is, I think, quite classical for this type of need: monitoring information (traffic, resource usage, ...), QOS informations (Netflow) and CDR informations. The need is very similar to what is described here: http://support.infobright.com/?ACT=62&resource_id=161

We expect something like 2GB of new data per hour.

So the needs are rather bigger than smaller. Something like 8-16 GB machine (64-bit) should be enough.
