I have downlaoded ICE 3.4.2. During the install I get an error message that there is not enough memory for the infobright server. The default vlaue of 800 for the heap size is too large for the memory on my PC. I have 1976MB of memory available. How can I get the test databas setup when it appears that the sample database is not being instantiated. Is there a way to set it up after changing the brighthouse.ini parameter to 600 mb?

Thank You

If I guess correctly, infobright is installed in your system but server does not start because of the insufficient memory.
Can you specify the name of OS and name of package name (rpm/deb if you are installing on linux) etc.?

If server is installed, then you can easily edit brighthouse.ini file and restart the server. The setting should be applied.

Let us know, how it goes.

I can start the server, but when I do I only see these databases - none of which have any data (except for the information_schema).

I thought after viewing the youtube presentation on installing ICE tha tthere was a sample database available to see how Infobright worked - am I mistaken? I would like to know if there is a sample database and how to get it setup post install. There were several statements in the install log that said a step was skipped and I assumed since the install could not start the server that this might be the reason that a sample database was not created..

The YouTube demo used the sample database found here on the contributed software page of our website.

You can follow the instructions found under sample database.

The carsales sample database is a separate download and installation.  You can find it here, at the top of the page.  There are downloads available for both Windows and Linux platforms.

The Windows video on YouTube already had a previous installation of the carsales database installed prior to the installation of the Infobright software (the Infobright database files are not removed from the Windows file system by the uninstall routine).  The other video, ‘10 Miliion Records in 12 Minutes’, demonstrates how to download and install the database.

The video demo is on Linux but is very similar on Windows.  The README file explains exactly how to do it.
