DTA stands for Database Theory and Application. This is the 2nd conference in this series organized by the SERSC group in Korea. Let me refer to SERSC homepage at http://www.sersc.org/ and DTA 2009 homepage at http://www.sersc.org/DTA2009/.

SERSC has been always keen on promoting cooperation between academic and industry researchers. This is how we came up together with the idea of a contest, that would encourage database scientists to use Infobright’s ICE in their academic projects.

The rules of the contest are simple. Every paper which refers to the usage of ICE in the described research can participate. The papers should be submitted to DTA 2009 via its online system. There will be special ICE contest category created in the system.

All the papers with positive reviews will be accepted for publication in the conference materials. The authors of the best project will be granted with free registration to DTA 2009. All the accepted papers will be published in the IEEE CS or CCIS materials.

Let’s use this thread for further discussion regarding this contest. As usual, I’ll be happy to answer to all your questions!

Best greetings,

Dominik

The conference by SERSC group were well organized. However, one thing that puzzles me is that I have two paper accepted and
registered for SERSC conference, which were supposed to be published in the CCIS Post-Proceeding. The camera-ready
versions and copyright forms were submitted. I sent several emails to check with the status of the CCIS proceedings to be published by springer. They never provide a single reply after the conference. In the academic environment, it is quite rare, where you spend time with your research for your paper, registered for the conference, but your papers were “lock up”
without knowing whether it will be “lock up” by the organization forever.

Hello csrc,

I met SERSC people first time in 2006. Then, they were starting organizing more conferences. They are still gaining experience. Every year, the quality of events and publications is getting better. One the other hand, I believe that one out of several aspects they need to improve is communication. I’ll keep it in mind with regards to DTA 2009. I can also try to look at it more generally.

Csrc, if you like, please kindly contact me directly at (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) - if you give me some details, I’ll follow up with SERSC. I’m in touch with them anyway. In particular, I was partially involved in editorship of one of their post-proceedings.
