 Welcome to the first issue of BrightIdeas, a quarterly newsletter offering insights on analytic data warehousing and providing an update on Infobright.
Clearly the need for business analytics continues to grow, demonstrated by the fact that spending growth for data warehousing is outpacing IT in general and DBMS systems in particular.
Other interesting items of note:
- Industry data shows that about 60% of data warehouses are over 500GB in size, and the percent will increase each year
- Spending on data warehousing is projected to grow from over $7.5B to over $9B by 2011
- The amount of data is projected to double every three years
Industry analysts are also noting that business demands for analytics is outpacing the availability of IT resources. Our experience in the market confirms something else – that while more and more firms depend on analytics to drive their business, many lack the resources and IT budget that is typically required to implement a scalable solution. We believe that we have the perfect solution to this problem – a highly scalable, self-managing system that costs substantially less to implement and administer than alternatives.
