ICE is a specialized Open Source load and read-only data warehouse, as opposed to a general-purpose database. ICE is designed to be easy to implement and maintain, eliminating most of the configuration, tuning and ongoing maintenance activities of other data warehouse products. ICE is optimized for use under the following conditions:
- Up to 30TB of data, supporting hundreds of millions of rows in a single table
- Data loading and storage, no DML support required
- Specific SQL SELECT support
- Certain types of database queries (see ICE Optimized Queries below)
- 64-bit Linux environments (32-bit environments may be used for functional testing and solution development, but will not reflect the full performance potential of ICE)
